DIY (Do it yourself)

Lets be honest we all like things that we can go out and buy, but sometimes we just don’t have the money to do so. These simple DIY’s will come in handy if you can’t go to the store.

This first DIY is an exfoliating mask to remove the excess dead skin. This can take place of your everyday face scrub that you would normally use. It’s called a Sugar and Olive Oil face scrub and I’m sure that you already guessed the main ingredients. This uses household products that you should already have in your kitchen. You will need a bowl, spoon, sugar and olive oil.  Take three table spoons or olive oil and a half cup of sugar and mix the ingredients into a bowl. Once completed you are ready to apply to your face.

The second DIY is a hair mask when your hair is just a dry mess. This is specifically a hydrating mask that will make hair healthier and give it more shine. For this mask you will need a bowl, honey and olive oil.  Take three tablespoons of olive oil and 1 ½ tablespoons of honey. This will help hydrate the hair naturally.  When doing this I recommend wearing a old shirt and using a towel.

This last DIY is something a little different and I thought people would benefit from – How to make your own crop top. As I’m sure you know crop tops are very in right now and I saw this video by Bethany. She is a girl that I follow on YouTube.  "She basically explains how to transform a big shirt into a crop top. She also shows you waysto wear them". You will need a shirt and some really sharp scissors. Lay the shirt on a hard surface. Then take the scissors and make a tiny slit in the middle of the neck line. Make a slit on both sides of the arm parts. Afterwards start cutting. When you have finished with that, go to the bottom of the shirt and cut straight across. This is creating the crop part. Try it on and you are done.

What’s Happening Now?

Beyonce’s younger sister Solange has been on the headlines of New York time’s lately. They say that she is the anti- Beyonce' because of what she wears.  People look at her as the cool laid back Brooklyn Mom and as for her sister Beyonce’ she is more of a “look at me now” type person.  During the interview, they discovered that Solange had on the same pair of jeans that the interviewer had on. The jeans cost around $60. To that discovery people are saying “she is just like us.” Known for her electric, colorful style New YorkTimes states  “that she is a style icon!”

According to the Fashionista blog website
Their African-inspired, Western-influenced collections are locally sourced and sold, giving fashionistas access to pieces that look as good in Nairobi as they would in New York, in Lagos as they would in London, or Pretoria as they would in Paris.
As the quote above says now Africans don't have to travel all the way to other places just to get the fashion that they crave. That will save them a lot of time and money.
Zandile Blay states that "not only was they talented, but they had style and savvy. Also were bound together by ambition which created cash flow."  You really don't see Africa as a fashion continent until these stylists came about. The new stores are making a big hit!

Prom preparation(:

Teens, prom is coming right around the corner! We all want to look perfect for that special night. I have some dress trends, hairstyles and weight loosing tips that will make you the best looking one there.
Teenage girls are extremely picky when it comes to their styles that they like to wear. Luckily there is a bunch on dress trends that are sure to fit everyone needs.  If you are a preppy girl the perfect dress for you would be a long Cinderella dress that makes you feel like a princess. Hey maybe you are a gothic? The dress that you should chose will be long and maybe black. If you don’t want black maybe try a deep red or purple with gloves.

You just can’t get any hairstyle when it comes to prom. If you have a strapless dress you might want to do an up-do to better accentuate the look. Now for straps, you could wear your hair down and curly to cover the up the straps if you want.

Prom is usually close to the end of the school year and girls don’t start trying to watch their weight until a month or two before prom. I have some ways that you can still eat all the other food you like and lose weight. Most people think that starving themselves is going to make them lose weight. THAT IS FALSE!!!! All you have to do is take what you are eating, eat smaller portions and drink plenty of water. Also work out for at least ten minutes every day and you are guarantee to see a difference.

Acne is a big problem in every teens life but in this video by Kim and she states that "the key to perfect skin is to keep it clean and exfoliate."

What this blog is about(:

I chose this name Fashion Guru because I really love fashion and I thought it would be nice to share my secrets with the world. I am absolutely obsessed with fashion and everything that has to do with it. This blog is going to be about fashion, hairstyles, makeup, nails etc. I like to bargain shop, so I am going to give you some advice on how to look good on a budget.

It is prom season so the hairstyles that I will be talking about will be reflecting that. I will also be talking about hairstyles that you can wear anywhere that do not consume a lot of time or skill.

Makeup is also a big topic that I love to discuss. I will be giving you advice about high end products versus drug store products.  I will be telling how you can get cheap make up brushes that cost less but work just as well as the high end brands.

I am not that educated on nails, so these will be my own opinions and experiences will different kinds of nails and which ones I prefer more.  One of my main topics will be should you go and get your nails done or find some and do them yourself for prom.

Of course prom is coming up so I will talking about the different types of prom dresses and whether you should spend a lot of money on them.  I will give you some options on what you should do with you dress after prom is over.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money to look good.  I will be telling you my top stores that I like to shop at that don’t cost a lot of money.

This blog is based on my opinions, experiences, and research I hope that you can get a lot of this.
